Alto Adige Wines featured at the “Definitive Italian Wine Tasting” in London Main focus on white varietals

At the 13th annual “Definitive Italian Wine Tasting” (www.definitiveitalianwine.co.uk) which took place at Lord’s Cricket Ground, Nursery End Pavillion, London on June 28th 2011 the Wines of Alto Adige have been presented on two tasting tables. This trade and press
event has been organized by Hunt & Coady and offered an unique platform to taste a selection of
Italian Wines available on the UK market.

This year the Alto Adige Wine Promotion, administrated by EOS of Chamber of Commerce of Bolzano, was taking part at this event for the seventh consecutive time.
24 wines have been available for tasting on the two Alto Adige tables, with the emphasis on white wines. Thanks to their crisp, fruity acidity and strong varietal character the region’s white wines continue to attract growing interest on the international wine scene. The most important white varieties such as Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Gewürztraminer from various sites and made using different vinification styles, have been presented. Among red wines the focus was on Pinot Noir and on Alto Adige’s native variety Lagrein, both varieties with which the region excels at an international level. In addition, one wine produced from the indigenous grape Gewürztraminer and one Lagrein were included in the theme tasting “Italian Journey”.
The wines presented revealed the diversity and complexity offered by Italy’s northern-most winegrowing region.
