Alto Adige Race to the Top

05 September 2019 - 08 September 2019

Alto Adige announces, “Race to the Top,” a new generation of competition for wine professionals offering participants a unique opportunity to literally climb their way to the Alto Adige Wine Summit, happening September 5-8, 2019.

Alto Adige Wines, the marketing body focused on the promotion of the wines of Alto Adige-Südtirol, will travel to New York City on July 15, 2019 to host this one-of-a-kind competition at Brooklyn Boulder’s Gowanus location.

All qualified trade & press are invited to participate.

Working in teams of three, with one person physically “racing” to the top of the climbing wall and the other two answering questions on the ground, participants will be asked a series of questions, advancing to a new “altitude” with every right answer. The team with the combined fastest time and best score will win a trip to the region this fall.

Questions will cover a variety of topics, including key grape varieties, soils, DOC characteristics and more.

Unlike other sommelier competitions, Race to the Top goes beyond sitting in a classroom and brings the region to life by incorporating characteristics that have a significant influence on the wines of Alto Adige: elevation & innovation.

Trade & press interested in participating are welcome to register here. Additional questions and inquiries can be sent to altoadigewines@wineandcollc.com.

A kick-off class in New York City as well as additional study materials will be provided before the competition. Registration deadline is May 31, 2019.
