Murmurings of spring in all of Alto Adige, and now with the province’s wine producers, too. When the rays of the sun become more intense and the days grow longer once again, Alto Adige’s winemakers open their doors for tours, tastings, and more. Below you can find a little taste of the widely varied selection on offer this year:
The Cantina Kurtatsch is among the oldest winery cooperatives in Alto Adige. With the guided “wine expedition”, all those interested in wine are guided through the varied locations of the winery. The winery’s grapes grow on different soil types between 200 and 900 meters (600 and 3,000 feet) above sea level. You can experience how the consistency of the soils have their effect upon the character of the wine and much, much more on the Kurtatsch Wine Expedition.
The wine journey continues to Termeno to Elena Walch, which offers a 360° tour through the estate winery. In the course of the tour, participants will visit the winery itself in Termeno and also enjoy the Ringberg Castle vineyard. The highlight of the tour is the tasting of the most prizewinning wines in the Blue Room of the castle. The ancient surroundings in the Renaissance style offer a special setting for this unique wine tasting.
Also absolutely worth seeing is the Erlebnis Kränzelhof in Cermes. They offer weekly wine tastings along with a visit to the neighboring labyrinth garden. A dance of the senses that will remain in the memory.
A wine experience of a very special kind is offered by the Abbazia di Novacella. In addition to exquisite wines, typical Alto Adige specialties may also be tasted here. You can combine your visit to the monastery with a tour through the seminary’s library which, with more than 98,000 volumes, is one of the most impressive libraries in the southern German linguistic area.
