Curtain Up for ProWein 2018

The Alto Adige wine sector is showing off its highlights

Around 6,500 exhibitors, 60 nationalities, 35 Alto Adige producers – that is ProWein 2018. At the world’s leading tradeshow for wines and spirits, which will take place from March 18 to 20 in Düsseldorf, Alto Adige wines are a fixed component. In addition to unstructured tastings at the group stand, Alto Adige’s producers will also be presenting their newest wines to an international public involved in the industry.

Have you heard anything yet about the “Project Epokale” from the Cantina Tramin? No? Then you’ve come to the right place at ProWein. The winery from Termeno is presenting its late-harvest Epokale that has been aged for more than six years in a mountain tunnel. Proof of the longevity of Gewürztraminer.

The Cantina Kaltern has scored with creative ideas and new techniques and is presenting its “Mashed Pinot Grigio”, a wine that originated from the project “XXX Wines”. You are certainly now asking just what is so special about this wine: the answer is that the unfiltered Pinot Grigio is left in contact with the skins for a full two weeks in a ceramic egg.

The fact that the Manincor estate winery has been producing biodynamically for years is well known, but now that work of many years has achieved even greater esteem: respekt-BIODYN has certified the winery as biodynamic. A great success!

The unstructured samplings at the tasting corner of the group stand offer a comprehensive insight into the great variety of the world of Alto Adige wine with the themes “Pinot Blanc – Multifaceted and Unmistakable”, “Alpine High – Alto Adige Wines from Different Elevations”, and “Vernatsch – From a Wine with Snacks to a Hidden Champion”.
