Alto Adige Wines on Tour 2018

In the wine region Alto Adige, around 20 grape varieties are grown at between 200 and 1000 m above sea level across a total cultivation zone of 5400 ha. In spite of its small size as Italy’s smallest wine growing region, 98% of the production area in Alto Adige is DOC certified. These facts are reason enough to present Alto Adige Wines to broader audiences both domestic and international.

Top wines, interesting details and the latest from the industry: At a variety of diverse events, Alto Adige will present its white and red wines, its passion for wine making, and the region’s wine-growing philosophy.

The “Dolovino on Snow” is one of many exciting events in Alto Adige. It’s a special wine tour, which takes place at Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm at the foot of the Dolomites. There is also the “Wine Ski Safari” event in Alta Badia, which features skiing and wine tasting with Alto Adige’s best wines at over 2000 metres elevation. From henceforth, Alto Adige Wines will continue to be a regular participant at the “Messe Hotel” trade fair each October. The broad range of Alto Adige Wines can be discovered at the HGV association booth. The final event on the Alto Adige tour is the “Top of Südtirol Wein/Vini Alto Adige”. At this event, visitors can sample award-winning wines, which have been recognised by Italian wine guides.

At the national stage, the renowned “Vinitaly” is a can’t-miss event that draws industry insiders, producers and food & beverage professionals to Verona in April 2018. Wine lovers can also look forward to additional seminars provided by the Italian Association of Sommeliers in 2018. NEW and for the first time this year: A road show with stops in Milan, Florence and Rome. This is a great opportunity to sample the very best of Alto Adige’s top wines. More information will be available soon!

In addition to events in Alto Adige, a European-wide wine tour will also take place. Wine enthusiasts should circle the date of the “VieVinum” in Vienna in their calendars. Alto Adige’s wine producers will also be on hand at this bi-annual event. The virtues of Alto Adige Wines are also regularly taught in Tyrol’s hotel management schools in the neighboring country of Austria. In addition, Austria’s wine specialists and sommeliers visit Alto Adige to better get to know the branch up close as part of winery tours and various tastings. Alto Adige Wines will also be featured at “ProWein” in Düsseldorf, a professional conference instituted by the wine and spirits industries. The incredibly international audience, which consists of 6500 manufacturers from 60 countries, speaks for itself as an absolute must for the entire industry. Moreover: Alto Adige Wines will also make stops in Germany, Great Britain and the Netherlands. Events will feature master classes and tastings for journalists, wine enthusiasts and sommeliers.

On the international stage, Alto Adige Wines will be presented in select markets in Japan, the United States, China and Russia. Such events will also include exhibitions and master classes.
