Alto Adige’s Winegrowers: Small-scale Structures, Great Commitment
Multifaceted wines do not need a lot of land. Just great commitment at the right location. That is proven by the approximately five thousand winegrowers in Alto Adige every year. In their small-scale structures, they nurture and harvest that which will turn into enjoyment in the glass. They deliver their grapes to around 200 winemaking operations which transform the impressive pallets into white wines, red wines, and sparkling wines.
Around forty million bottles of wine are produced in Alto Adige every year. Around 70% of them originate from cooperative wineries. Another 25% of the annual wine production comes from Alto Adige’s estate wineries, with the remaining 5% being a product of the “Alto Adige Independent Winegrowers”.
Behind the sparkling wines are the members of the “Association of Alto Adige Sparkling Wine Producers with the Classic Bottle Fermentation Process”, who handle the making of top-quality bubbly.
