From viticulture to architecture: breaking new ground

Modern accents among ancient walls

South Tyrolean wine is increasingly attracting attention not only for its outstanding products, but also for its artistic buildings. Since South Tyrolean wines made the leap from simple table wines to excellent vintages, many wineries and cellars have also begun to present themselves accordingly.

Gothic and Renaissance styles once characterized South Tyrol's wine buildings, but today modern trends are also emerging within historic walls. The connection to tradition remains intact, however, and is evident in the fusion of old buildings with fresh ideas. A contrasting yet harmonious symbiosis: the ideal setting for moments of enjoyment!

Kurtatsch Winery

With its dolomite façade facing the wine route, the Kurtatsch winery sets outstanding architectural accents. The façade is reminiscent of the "Millawand," the characteristic dolomite rock face on which the village of Kurtatsch is perched, and is the centerpiece of the extension work, which was supervised by the architects "Dell'Agnolo-Kelderer." An inviting wine shop, the original Dolomite cellar, and the innovative TERROIR trail show that terroir is alive and well here.

Bolzano Winery

The Bolzano Winery, which opened in 2018, is a symbol of South Tyrolean wine culture. It houses internationally award-winning wine greats in an imposing vine leaf cube, which was built using sustainable construction methods and blends harmoniously into the landscape.

Tramin Winery

The Tramin Winery attracts attention with its striking green color and distinctive design. The wine shop and tasting room seem to reach out into the landscape like arms, allowing the sophisticated construction to blend in with its surroundings.

Pfitscher Winery

Sustainability is rewarded! In 2012, the Pfitscher Winery in Montan became the first winery to be climate-certified. Under the motto "Preserve tradition, dare to try something new," it was relocated to the middle of the vineyards, making it environmentally friendly and energy-efficient. Since then, it has proudly borne the "KlimaHaus Wine" seal.

Cantina Caldaro

Visitors to Kaltern are greeted at the entrance to the town by the wine center, which captivates with its simple architectural elegance. Behind the glass and bronze-colored façade with its vine leaf design, the history of farms, wineries, and squares from the South Tyrolean wine village comes to life. Well worth seeing, not only for wine lovers!

Manincor Winery

When you enter the tasting room and sales pavilion of the Manincor winery, the first thing you see is the panoramic view of Lake Kaltern. What many people don't realize is that the heart of the winery is hidden in the underground vaults—the cellars, with all their secrets.
