Daniel Hütte in Val Gardena

Baita Daniel Hütte

The Demez family have been running the 2,240-metre-high Baita Daniel Hütte mountain hut on the slopes of Val Gardena’s Seceda mountain since 1971. They have always placed a firm priority on cuisine and wines, and have been expanding their wine base with unwavering constancy for around 30 years. Samuel Demez held the sceptre in the early days while, in the intervening years, his son Martin has taken over the management of the hut. Their aim has always remained the same: To introduce their guests to the diversity and quality of wines from Alto Adige. The wine list also features wines from other regions of Italy and the world. Given that picking the right wine is no easy matter in such a well-stocked cellar, the Demez family provide their guests with excellent, professional recommendations and a strong focus on local wines in their pairings. A trip to the Baita Daniel Hütte mountain hut is a guarantee of an authentic Alto Adige mountain hut experience for all guests – particularly for wine lovers.

“We are the proof that wines can make a wow-factor entrance even in a mountain hut at an altitude of over 2,200 metres. We stock over 370 labels in our white and red wine cellar, over two thirds of which are from Alto Adige,” says Martin Demez.
