Chiusa Wine Trail

Chiusa Wine Trail

The Chiusa Wine Trail provides a view into the history of winegrowing, taking as its central theme the grape varieties of the Isarco Valley and the particular locations. The Chiusa Wine Trail leads from the municipal swimming pool past the district of Leitach through the picturesque vineyards of the Isarco Valley, where numerous information boards provide interesting facts about work in the vineyard and the plants and animals that inhabit the vineyards and surroundings. Both big and small fans of hiking will be rewarded for their efforts on the two hour round trip walk with a lovely panoramic view of the monastery Sabiona and the peaks of the Odle chain in the World Heritage Site of the Dolomites. Guided hikes on the Chiusa Wine Trail are offered once a week in May and provide complete information regarding the vineyards and wineries. The tour always includes a tasting of the best-known wines from the region. In the Central Isarco Valley near Chiusa, these include in particular the grape varieties Sylvaner, Riesling, and Veltliner. They are right at home here with the best conditions.
