Southern Wine Route

In addition to the Northern Wine Route and the Central Wine Route, a bike path also runs through the vineyards to the south. The Southern Wine Route begins at Cortaccia sulla Strada del Vino. The destination is Salurno, the southernmost community in Alto Adige. Along the way, riders enjoy the vineyard landscapes in Niclara, Magrè, and Cortina. Arriving in Salurno is a great opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine and some typical Alto Adige refreshments. The route back passes through the historical villages of Ora and Egna up to Termeno. This village, also known by its German name Tramin, is the birthplace of Gewürztraminer, and thus definitely worth a stop. The remaining 40 kilometers (25 miles) of the Southern Wine Route back to Cortaccia are also easily managed. If the temptations of Alto Adige wine do not cause too many stops and side trips, then the roundtrip can be covered in around two and a half hours.
