Passion and drive

The Kapfinger family has been producing wine from their own grapes at the Hillepranter winery since 2021

The Hillerpranter winery above Marengo has been growing its own grapes for generations but has only started to produce its own wine in 2021. Young winegrower Lukas is giving the winery a new direction. His philosophy is very simple: “Creating good wines requires passion and drive, from pruning to harvest”, Lukas Kapfinger stated.

Much passion, but also much (manual) labour, goes into the grapes that are harvested in autumn. After all, the Hillepranter winery is all about producing quality. Location, climate and soil provide the natural conditions. The grapes from the Hillepranter winery grow on steep south-eastern slopes at altitudes of 450 to 550 metres. "The location and orientation of the slope ensure that our grapes benefit from the early morning sun, while being cooled by downdraughts in the evening and at night," Kapfinger said. "It is precisely these temperature differences that ensure freshness and special flavours.

The Hillepranter winery grows four different grape variety. The range includes a Sauvignon Blanc, characterised by a lively acidity, a fresh and elegant Chardonnay with a subtle woody note, a ruby red, fruity and spicy Vernatsch and a velvety, full-bodied Pinot Noir.

Even though the Hillepranter is a young winery, it has already put down roots. And made waves. The best requisites...
