Winegrowing between valley and altitude

Steep vineyards and Alpine origins in Kastelbell

The Josmoarhof is located in Galsaun, a small village belonging to the municipality of Kastelbell-Tschars in the Vinschgau Valley. From here, the estate reaches up towards the vineyards that shape its identity: Pfaffenegg and Götzenhof.

The steep vineyards of Pfaffenegg lie at around 600 metres above sea level. Even higher are the sites at Götzenhof, which extend from 600 to 800 metres. Cultivating these slopes requires particular care and a close connection to the natural conditions of the landscape.

At these elevations, the vines benefit from ideal growing conditions. The Alpine setting and the interplay between the different sites allow the grapes to develop a distinctive expression of their own.

The resulting wines are closely connected to their place of origin. The terroir of the steep Vinschgau vineyards gives them a clear identity, making these high-altitude sites the true heart of the Josmoarhof.
