Winemaking with history and character

For true wine lovers, the Punterhof in Varna is a special place: wine has been grown here since 1140, a tradition spanning more than 880 years, now carried on with great passion by Martin and Daniela. The Punterhof vineyards lie at around 580 meters above sea level, directly opposite the Abbey of Neustift. This alpine location in the Eisack Valley creates a unique microclimate: warm days, cool nights, and a long growing season lend the wines finesse, freshness, and aromatic depth.

Each bottle tells the story of the landscape, altitude, and centuries of winemaking experience that define this estate. Wine enthusiasts are warmly invited to taste Punterhof’s wines directly on site. In a personal and welcoming atmosphere, guests can learn more about the estate’s philosophy, its natural cultivation practices, and the distinct character of each variety.

“My goal is to produce healthy, high-quality grapes to create wines with fruit and structure.”
Martin Sigmund, Punterhof
