Twenty-one generations have worked the same estate in Bolzano-Gries, making the Schmid family one of the oldest winegrowing families in Alto Adige. The special location brings together a quiet, almost rural atmosphere with the immediate proximity to Bolzano’s old town—an interplay that also defines the character of the wines.
A central experience at the estate is the personal wine tour with tasting. Together with the winegrower, guests gain authentic insights into the world of wine—whether in the historic, protected cellar or in the garden of the estate. It is not just about tasting, but about understanding origin, vinification, and the distinctive features of the Gries winegrowing area.
The focus is on characteristic grape varieties such as Lagrein and Schiava, complemented by Souvignier Gris, a fungus-resistant variety that represents a sustainable approach to viticulture. Careful craftsmanship, experience, and a deep feel for the land shape wines with a clear identity.
